Anne

Anne Lefter is currently the Executive Director of the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center at the University of Northern Iowa.

Lefter previously served as the inaugural director of the Goldfarb Center for Performing Arts at Western Illinois University, where she led the strategic planning, operational launch and artistic vision of a new 100,000-square-foot, $119 million facility. Prior to that, Lefter spent 22 years at the Community College of Baltimore County as Director of the Arts, where she provided executive leadership for multiple performing arts venues across three campuses. 

She has taught at Stevenson University, Macalester College, the University of Minnesota, and the United States Naval Academy. Before coming to CCBC, she was the Audience and Administrative Manager, and later the Marketing and Development Manager, for Everyman Theatre in Baltimore, MD. She directed and wrote the book for the original play O’er the Ramparts for Baltimore County’s bicentennial celebration of the War of 1812. Her play Turtle Soup took third place in the 2003 Baltimore Playwrights Festival, and her one-act Eastside was competitively selected for FemFest97 by the Red Hen Theatre in Cleveland, OH. Her newest play Witness Statements was produced this summer at Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre. 

She serves as Vice President of the board of Quarry Theatre in Baltimore, and is a member of the Dramatists Guild. Anne holds a BA in Theatre and English from the University of Minnesota, and an MA and PhD in Theatre Studies from Cornell University.
